Feeding the Fish show at Expo 2015 bidFeeding the Fish created a special Pixel-Poi performance for Milan's bid to host Expo 2015. The show was performed by Alix and Chris at the Palais des Congres in Paris directly after Al Gore's address to the panel and audience, which included Italian prime minister Prodi, the Turkish prime minister and numerous VIPs. The entire presentation was extremely well received and Milan won the race to be the host city.

Formula 1 Grand PrixBahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix Drivers' Welcome Party

We have just performed a 3 person finale show at the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix drivers' welcome party. The show was a great success and displayed on the big screens to the public audience throughout the race days. The Bahrain International Circuit logo as well as English and Arabic text were displayed by the Pixel-Poi during the high-point of the performance.

Pixel poi - starsPixel-Poi

Our unique Pixel-Poi (patent pending) can be programmed to create actual pictures and text in the air. This exciting development adds another dimension to the stage-show and is completely unique. Launched at the HWK 50th anniversary party in Austria, they were programmed to display the company logo and a bright number 50. Other custom designs include "BeST" for the Best of the Best Awards at Billingsgate as well as the Mini logo for the launch parties throughout Italy of the new Mini car design.

Pixel Poi: programmed to draw a fish in the airBesides custom performances, the Pixel Poi have been incorporated into Flux, where they are programmed to draw bright and colourful stars, flowers, rainbows and even fish, always changing colour on millisecond cues with the music.

The Pixel-Poi set was performed on the main stage alongside Vanessa Mae who was flown in to play for the ceremony. The audience included Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of Dubai, and the show was broadcast on national TV. The Pixel-Poi displayed Dubai World Cup logo and various visual patterns using the colours of the United Arab Emirates.

Pixel Poi programmed to display IBM logoIBM Global Golden Circle

The most spectacular venue we've performed at in some time has to be that of IBM's Global Golden Circle - a party held for the corporation's top worldwide achievers on the beach directly in front of Dubai's Burj al Arab hotel. The hotel - an iconic sail shaped tower rising out of the sea is itself beautifully lit in ever-changing colours, and the beach was strewn with hundreds of colourful illuminated balls and larger globes. Feeding the Fish's performance featured laser dance and juggling as well as being customised to display the IBM logo.

FTF Television Appearances

Feeding the Fish were featured on the BBC1 primetime children's show 'The Slammer' (December 06, repeated April and the Christmas special - December 07), which won the BAFTA award for Best Children's Entertainment Programme. Extracts of Flux were also shown on another BBC Television institution: 'Blue Peter' (January 07). More recently, Feeding the Fish performed for 'Dar Familia' - a Saturday night primetime show broadcast on Nessma - the most popular TV station in the Maghreb countries Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Feeding the Fish were also spotted juggling on the PC World television commercials shown nationwide in the UK in the run-up to Christmas 2007.

Laser light sticksLaser light sticks in performance

Developed during the second half of 2005, our laser light sticks had their on-stage debut in December and are now used in the choreographed club swinging routine in Flux. Visible over 3.6 kilometres away, these lasers are the brightest and most powerful that can be used safely and legally on stage. The pure green laser is controlled by the microchip inside the stick to make patterns of dots, stripes and slices through the air. These effects are sequenced along with the colours and effects of the LEDs within the sticks themselves to synchronise exactly with the music.

Philips Ambilight Demo Video

Philips are currently promoting their latest in television set technology. The new flat-screen TVs have a surround panel which changes colour in response to the content on the screen. Philips recently filmed Feeding the Fish performing Flux to use as part of the demonstration video for the Ambilight range of televisions. The video, featuring FTF clubs and Pixel-Poi sequenced to change colour, which will stimulate the surround panel of the television to change colour accordingly, is on show at retailers worldwide.

Science Events

Feeding the Fish were very pleased to be selected as the opening performance of the last Science on Stage Festival at CERN (the world's largest particle physics laboratory). Organised by the European Space Agency and 6 other prominent organisations, the festival promotes exciting and interactive approaches to teaching science in schools. The performance is accompanied by a teacher's sheet explaining some of the scientific concepts involved in juggling and the unique technology that FTF have developed over the past 2 years.
Follow-up performances included the German Science on Stage and the Konrad Zuse awards ceremony at Phaeno Science Centre as well as the forthcoming symposium at the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin entitled "Is the Universe a Quantum Computer?".
Flux was performed for 10 days during the summer holidays at the Swiss Science Centre, Technorama including a Q and A session after each show about the technology involved in the show. See Date-List for more details.

Carbon Neutral

Climate Care Although we love our work and the places it takes us, the downside is huge carbon dioxide emmissions - particularly from air travel. Climate Care has calculated the annual weight of CO2 produced by all our travel and energy use. By joining their carbon neutral programme, our environmental impact is now offset by funding energy efficiency projects and reforestation.

Technology developments

Feeding the Fish juggling their RGB GloclubsA new section has been added to the show Flux making the most of the gorgeous visual effects that can be programmed into the intelligent juggling equipment following an intensive development period in 2004 (many very long nights), and the first performances using our unique props in January 2005. At any moment the clubs can be programmed to a precise colour (from a range of over 16 million) and to one of an endless number of visual effects. We have written new software to run on the processors in each club so that we can continually upload new effects for both our main show Flux and custom performances.
