NEW SHOW:  Kaleidoscope

Drawing on their popular show, ‘Flux’, Feeding the Fish have created a larger, more visual and even more stunning performance. ‘Kaleidoscope’ is a strongly choreographed combination of dance, laser manipulation and Pixel-Poi, performed by three dancers to a movingly upbeat classical-fusion soundtrack.

'Kaleidoscope' premiered in June 2008 and has already been performed at a number of high profile events worldwide including the Horse of the Year Show, the Salle Empire in Monte-Carlo before Prince Albert of Monaco, for the rebranding party of Hong Kong Tourist Board, to launch a new TV channel in Dubai and at the opening of the 'Queens of Egypt' exhibition for the Egyptian Ambassador to France.

Kaleidoscope was performed at the Gadget Show Live, held at the NEC in Birmingham as part of the Gadget Show Super Theatre. Rated as a highlight of the event, we look forward to next year’s repeat performance.

Pixel Poi: juggling batons programmed to display Google Logo

Pixel-Poi™

Pixel-Poi are highly visual illuminated LED batons manipulated in performances by Feeding the Fish. We invented a unique method to create graphics in lights whilst spinning juggling props in 2005 and patented the technology (Granted UK & European Patents: GB 2451 234B and 20 2008 009 828.9)

They can be precisely programmed to display text, graphics and logos as they are spun by the performers - this makes them perfect for custom shows. A typical branded performance would include a Pixel-Poi routine as the finale of the act, displaying numerous colourful patterns. As the music builds to the crescendo, the client's choice of logo or text appears in the Pixel-Poi. The effect is completely breathtaking and we are frequently told that audience members had goose-bumps when the logos appeared.

Third generation Pixel-Poi are incorporated in both Feeding the Fish acts: ‘Flux’ and ‘Kaleidoscope’. The displayed images now have a higher definition, endless colours and multiple words can be programmed to appear simultaneously.

Specially programmed Pixel-Poi branded shows have been performed for clients including: Google, Vodafone, AXA, Microsoft, Alton Towers, Kraft Foods, Ministry of Sound, Diesel, the British Royal Family, Bahrain Formula One, Christina Aguilera and Lamborghini to name but a few. The combination of Juggling with Logos appearing in lights has been extremely well received worldwide.

Science Events

Feeding the Fish are very proud to have performed at the opening of the Science on Stage Festival held October 2008 in Berlin's Uranium, and previously at the European Science on Stage event held at CERN (the world's largest particle physics laboratory) where the performance was accompanied by a teacher's sheet explaining some of the scientific concepts involved in juggling and the unique technology that FTF have developed.
Science on Stage events encourage teachers from schools throughout Europe to explore new ways to make science exciting and fun for young people. The events are inspiring and hugely positive.
Follow-up performances included the Konrad Zuse awards ceremony at Phaeno Science Centre, a symposium at the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin entitled "Is the Universe a Quantum Computer?". Flux was performed for 10 days during the summer holidays at the Swiss Science Centre, Technorama including a Q and A session after each show about the technology involved in the show.
We have also performed at Technology Festivals throughout Asia, including the Mumbai, Kanpur and Kharagpur branches of the Indian Institute of Technology. Thanks to all the organising teams and audiences for wonderfully warm receptions. See Date-List for more details.

LUCI awards ceremony in EindhovenLUCI - GLOW: Eindhoven City of Light

Following the success of the city.people.light forum held in Rotterdam last year, Feeding the Fish performed for LUCI Association and GLOW - Eindhoven City of Light's forum of light in art and architecture. FTF Television Appearances

Feeding the Fish were featured on the BBC1 primetime children's show 'The Slammer' (repeated April and the Christmas special - December 08), which won the BAFTA award for Best Children's Entertainment Programme. Extracts of Flux were also shown on another BBC Television institution: 'Blue Peter' - Feeding the Fish's third appearance on the show. More recently, Feeding the Fish performed for 'Dar Familia' - a Saturday night primetime show broadcast on Nessma - the most popular TV station in the Maghreb countries Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. Feeding the Fish were also spotted juggling on the PC World television commercials shown nationwide in the UK in the run-up to Christmas 2007.

Philips Ambilight Demo Video

Philips are currently promoting their latest in television set technology. The new flat-screen TVs have a surround panel which changes colour in response to the content on the screen. Philips recently filmed Feeding the Fish performing Flux to use as part of the demonstration video for the Ambilight range of televisions. The video, featuring FTF clubs and Pixel-Poi sequenced to change colour, which will stimulate the surround panel of the television to change colour accordingly, is on show at retailers worldwide.

Environmental and SocialCurrent CO2 level in the atmosphere

We recognise the impact that our activities can have on others and the environment. It has become increasingly important, as Feeding the Fish has grown, to take an intentional approach and to acknowledge our responsibilities to minimise the negative effects and to maximise the positive ones.

We love our work and the places it takes us but the downside of performing internationally is the high carbon emissions caused by travelling these distances and in particular flying. We are committed to minimizing emissions from travel, choosing ground-based travel whenever possible and encouraging bookers to do similar if they are arranging our transport.

It is very difficult to evaluate an end-client’s ethical credentials in black and white: we avoid where possible working for companies involved in human rights abuses, the armament and tobacco industries.

Feeding the Fish have joined thousands of individuals and organisations by signing up to the 10:10 project and in doing so have committed to cutting 10% of our carbon emissions by next year.
