In June this year Feeding the Fish took part in a very special episode of Blue Peter. We opened the live broadcast on Thursday 9 June with our LED Video Suits dance show Supernova. However, this performance was a little different from our usual act. As Blue Peter’s third presenter – Barney Harwood – was returning from holiday, he made a fairly spectacular surprise entrance by performing as part of Supernova. So Feeding the Fish added a new string to our bow: training celebrities choreography and tech dance…
Barney joined Alix, Megan, Gary and Tony – with Chris on board as our technician. It seems TV presenters are quick to learn, because we managed to teach Barney his section in just one day. Supernova’s dance captain Rachel Marsh led the rehearsals, where we took Barney through each dance step, dressed him in the suits, and taught him how they worked. Blue Peter filmed Barney’s rehearsal with Feeding the Fish at our London studios. As a result, the broadcast gave a very special exclusive look behind the scenes of the Feeding the Fish rehearsal and tech space.
The live episode opened with the 3 minute Supernova performance, which was programmed to reveal the Blue Peter logo. Barney appeared in the fourth section and finalé when he was lifted by the Feeding the Fish dance troupe. As the studio lights came on and Barney’s surprise return was revealed. But that wasn’t the only surprise. This was the 5th time that Feeding the Fish had performed on Blue Peter, and so our director Alix was given a Silver Blue Peter badge. You can see her reaction below…
We think Alix from @PixelPoi might be preeetty happy to receive her #BluePeter badge… Love it! pic.twitter.com/N5ro2L2Xph
